A New Way to Experience the Paintings

I’ve always believed that a painting can say something before we ever find the words for it.

This year, while preparing my 27-piece collection for the Sunshine Coast Art Crawl, I decided to try something new. I began recording short videos for the paintings, sharing the thoughts, feelings, memories, and little sparks of inspiration behind each one.

What began as a practical idea quickly became something much more personal.

I realized that hearing the story behind a painting can open another doorway into the work. You can see the colors and movement, but you can also hear what I was thinking about, what surprised me, and what the painting came to mean to me as it took shape.

Some of the pieces feel quiet and reflective. Others are full of movement, playfulness, mystery, or joy. Each one has its own personality.

I’ve loved creating these short narratives because they allow me to connect with people in a way that a title and description alone sometimes cannot.

“Every painting is more beautiful than the other. Best yet was hearing your narrative, seeing your smile, and hearing your grace and spirituality infused in every single painting.”

— Judy Krings, collector

The 2026 Art Crawl Collection includes 27 original paintings, each created with layers of acrylic, mixed media, movement, texture, and a great deal of curiosity.

The collection will be shown at Boutique In The Creek in Roberts Creek during the 2026 Sunshine Coast Art Crawl, October 23–25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. My private studio will be closed this year, so Boutique In The Creek will be the place to see the collection in person.

Alongside the original paintings, I’ll also have art cards and posters available.

But even if you can’t attend the Art Crawl, I hope you’ll explore the collection online. Many of the paintings now include a short video where you can hear me tell you their story in my own words.

That has become one of my favorite parts of this collection.

Art has always been about connection for me. Sometimes it begins with color. Sometimes with a feeling. Sometimes with something we can’t quite name.

And sometimes, a painting simply waits for the right person to recognize something of themselves in it.

Thank you for being part of my art world.

With love,

Cheryl
