My Inspiration

Have you ever had a burning desire to follow your passions and yet somehow found yourself doing everything else but what you longed to do? Have you ever ignored your natural, creative talents because it didn’t seem practical or responsible to indulge yourself in pursuing them?

For twenty years I had a desire to paint, but told myself that I couldn’t make a living as an artist. So, like some other responsible people my age, I went to business school and became a successful businessperson.  I made everyone proud including myself.  But I felt a part of my heart was aching to express itself in the form of art.

I am grateful to one of my mentors, who encouraged me to write down my dreams and commit to creating them. To begin my artistic journey I took numerous classes and apprenticed with many professional artists. In the year 2000 I painted my first oil on canvas painting.  I am so thankful that I persisted in setting goals and following my dreams. I always say, “In God’s time, not mine, everything works out.”  I was ready and my teachers presented themselves. Over the years my passion has grown and my talents have unfolded.

In 2003 I was still president of a publicly traded company, which my partners and I were on the verge of selling.  I was at that moment in life when you know you have reached an important fork in the road. It was a moment when my life may never be the same. It was a moment of truth and faith. Did I have the courage and strength to let go of that which I had built and mastered?

I took a leap of faith. I trusted my heart and intuition to create artwork.  One in which I was humbled, vulnerable and yet somehow more alive. My kind and loving husband pledged to be my first patron. I also enlisted the love and support of a “mastermind group”, a group of successful women who come together to support each other in creating that which they desire in their life.

With my newfound skills, support and commitment I began my journey down my unchartered path to freedom and passion. Today I am not who I once was. I have gained peace and serenity in my life. I pursue my passion each day with vigor and grace. When I begin a new painting I am briefly apprehensive, but life’s beauty, love and energy begins to flow through me. I am inspired. I feel blessed. I experience small miracles with each new day and each new brush stroke.

I invite you to share in my creations. I hope you too allow yourself to follow your dreams.

Remember "The Secret" to life is:

1. Ask for your dream to become a reality

2. Believe it will come

3. Act as if you have already received it!

Take the time to dream a little and remember to have fun!!!
