How WE can Overcome procrastination….

29 Sep How WE can Overcome procrastination….

Have you ever wanted to do something but did not do it for really no good reason?  Being an artist is what I do today and sometimes I will let other things get in the way of my studio time like email, regular mail, phone calls, reorganizing my studio, shopping and really the list is long for ways I find to procrastinate on doing the one thing I said I was going to do that day which was paint….

An artist friend of mine came to visit us this summer at Whistler.  We talked about painting together in Puerto Vallarta three days a week because we live beside each other and we both agree that procrastination is hurting our creative goals.  The next morning she woke up and said lets commit to each other to paint a set number of hours each week starting now!  I was like okay, I know if I commit to you that will be enough structure to get me painting…and it has been so amazing.  Even while I have been traveling I found a way to set up a small travel easel and continue painting.  In my spiritual life I have often benefitted from being in a group so why would my painting life be any different….together we can do anything

Yes, I agree. It’s strange isn’t it that the thing we love the most we still seem to procrastinate. For me right now, it’s getting my third poetry book into production. Once I start the work I can go for hours, lost. Lovely .

It’s so wonderful to have the support of good friends. Glad to count you as one of mine. You got me painting again even in the middle of unpacking from our move. Nice to have my corner all set up and all my new full spectrum lighting in place. It’s so cozy. Thanks for your constant encouragement.
